1st Sarratt Scout Group

This year will see the next exciting development for the 1st Sarratt Scout Group – the formation of a new Scout Troop. Re-established just over 3 years ago, after a lapse of several years, the 1st Sarratt Scout Group re-started with a Beaver Colony, which as the children became old enough to transition into Cubs, enabled us to form a Cub Pack, and now that some of those are ready to become Scouts, we are delighted to announce we will be starting a Scout Troop after the Whitsun Half Term.

Now with a membership of 23 Beavers and 36 Cubs, both of which include boys and girls, we are a thriving unit and very excited at the prospect of beginning a Scout Troop into which the existing Cubs can progress and new joiners are welcome.

Since our last entry in Spotlight in September last year we have taken part in the District Sailing Competition at Rickmansworth, had the winning team in the District Cooking Competition, run a stall at Sarratt Fireworks Night, participated in the Remembrance Day Parade at Holy Cross, attended the Christmas Panto at Watersmeet Theatre, held a Cub Christmas Camp at Chandlers Cross and taken part in the District Swimming Competition in February. In between these events our weekly meetings continue to be a varied mixture of indoor and outdoor activities as the children enthusiastically work towards acquiring their badges.

As well as forming the Scout Troop, 2013 will also see us running several other weekend Camps, including our first one of the year in May at the Phasels Wood Campsite in Kings Langley and participating in a number of district events.

Our fund raising activity continues and this year is focused on acquiring equipment to support our camping events. However longer term our goal is still to establish our own Scout Hut and transport.
We are always grateful for additional support, be that fundraising, help with the weekly meetings, or special topics at the meetings (for example the Beavers recently had a presentation from some of our local police officers) or indeed simply offering to provide some of your time, skills and experience in the development of our Scout Group.
